The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND for Geneva Borho who died on Tuesday April 18, 2006 at her home in Langdon.
Geneva was born in Nekoma, ND on June 15, 1919 to Alex and Julia (Koehmstedt) Borho. She attended grade and high school in Nekoma and graduated in 1937. She attended Valley City State University and graduated with a standard certificate in June of 1939. After six years of teaching in ND and MN, she moved to Washington State in 1945. She taught in Maple Valey, Wash. For five years and then returned to Valley City State University to continue her education. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in August of 1951. She began teaching first grade in Port Angeles, Wash. Other than a year, 1958-1959, teaching for the armed forces in Bad Kreuznach, Germany, she finished her teaching career June 7, 1977 in Port Angeles, Washington after completing a total of 38 years.
While teaching in Germany she did extensive traveling in Europe and Egypt and the Holy Land. Following her retirement she went to Hawaii and two trips to Australia and New Zealand. Summers were spent traveling in Canada and Mexico and back home in Nekoma.
Following her teaching career she became a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul thrift shop, provided extra tutoring at Jefferson School and helped out at the gift shop in Olympic Memorial Hospital in Port Angeles. She was a member of Queen of Angels Church, Klahhane hiking club and Olympic Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. In 2001 she returned to live at Wheatland Estates in Langdon, ND where she participated in many of the activities offered there and at Maple Manor.
She is survived by her siblings: Fr. Charles Borho of Oregon, Bert (Gen) Borho of Florida, Alfred (LaDonna) Borho of Arizona, James Borho of Missouri, Cyril (Lynn) Borho of Illinois, and Jack Borho of Mississippi, she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, infant siblings Mary and Joseph and brothers Leslie and Arnold.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alumni Association Scholarship fund at Valley City State University or the Clallam County Historical Museum or the Langdon Senior Center.
VISITATION 3 to 5pm Friday April 21, 2006 at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon.
PRAYER SERVICE 7:30pm Friday Evening at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon.
