Gail Judith Dalzell, 79, of Walhalla, ND, and most recently of West
Fargo, died Friday, November 13, 2015, in a Fargo care center. Her
funeral service will be Friday, November 20, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. at St.
Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla. Visitation will be held Thursday,
November 19, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. vigil service
at the church. Burial will be at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Walhalla.
Gail Smith was born October 23, 1936, on the family farm to Stanley and
Violet (Klindt) Smith. She grew up in the Walhalla area, attended two
years of high school at Park River, ND, and then completed school and
graduated from Walhalla High School. She married Donald Dalzell,
October 2, 1953, at Leroy, ND.
Gail had been active in various organizations through the years
including NFO, PTO, Extension Homemakers, and was a 4-H leader. She
worked at a variety of jobs including farmhand, seamstress, state
historical site attendant, and retired from a career with the postal
service. She enjoyed many activities including letter-writing, baking
and sewing for her family, gardening and food preservation, rug-making,
needlework and especially quilting. She also raised and showed Morgan
horses with Donald.
Gail is survived by her children and grandchildren: Vicki (Harold)
Jordan and Clinton Harris; Desiree (Bruce) Verlinde and Molly (Grant)
Weisz, Zach (Krista) Verlinde, Tess Verlinde, and Hannah (Dustin)
Strong; Brian (Louise) Dalzell; Stuart (Jennifer) Dalzell and Madison
Beebe; Todd (Julie) Dalzell, Talia and Ellia; Justin (Crystalynn)
Dalzell, Weston and Dalton; and Nathan Dalzell; great-grandchildren:
Ava Weisz, Kailey and Charles Verlinde, and Delilah, Adelaide and Baron
Strong; sister, Janet (Matt) Werven; sisters-in-law: Betty Smith,
Sharon Smith, Marie Dalzell and Lenora Gelder; and brother-in-law,
Leonard Dalzell.
Donald passed away on November 29, 2014. Also preceding her in death
were her parents, brothers Merton and Roland Smith, five
brothers-in-law, and four sisters-in-law.
