Frederick A Flink

Frederick A. Flink, 80, of Osnabrock, ND died suddenly of a heart attack at Altru Hospital Grand Forks, ND, July 20, 2007.

Fred was born on June 18, 1927, in Alma Township, the son of Charles and Katherine (Schultz-Labing) Flink. He attended school in Osnabrock through 8th grade. He had to quit school to help on the family farm. He later served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954-1956. He returned to Osnabrock and continued to farm.

On April 23, 1960, Fred was united in marriage to Gladys Deyle in Wishek, ND. He retired from farming in 1989, but still continued to help his son on the farm. He loved spending time with his family and friends, including spending the winter months in California for the last 16 years. He enjoyed his garden and flowers, fishing, family dogs, woodworking, spending time at Woodland Resort and going to auction sales.

Fred was a director of the North Dakota State Barley Show for 35 years and a township supervisor. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #164, Knights of Pythias, Dovre Lutheran Church, Dovre Lord’s Acre, and past Dovre Council.

He will be deeply missed by: his wife, Gladys; son Jeffrey (Tamara), Osnabrock, ND; daughters Kristine Anderson, Wildomar, CA, and Shelly (Tom) Sontag, Green Bay, WI; five grandchildren: Nicole, Jessica, and Justin Flink; Kendall and Jennifer Sontag; brothers, Richard (Jane), Hartsburg, MO and Virgil (Wilma), Stella, MO; sisters: Bernice Nielsen, Grand Forks, ND, and Marilyn (Bob) Paulson, Milton, ND and several nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by: his parents, sisters: Elizabeth Bessire Elkins and Esther Aamot, brothers-in-law, Ennis Bessire, Ed Elkins, and Art Nielsen, and sister-in-law, Doreen Brusseau Flink.

A Prayer Service will be held at Dovre Lutheran Church in Osnabrock at 7 pm Tuesday July 24, 2007.

A Memorial Service will be held at Dovre Lutheran Church in Osnabrock at 10:00 am Wednesday July 25, 2007. Visitation will be held one hour prior to each service
