Francis A. Muhs, 87, of Langdon and formerly Dresden, ND passed away December 23, 2008 at Cavalier County Memorial Hospital of Langdon, ND.
Francis A. Muhs was born August 14, 1921 to Albert and Theresa (Conze) Muhs at their family farm near Dresden, ND. He grew up and attended school in the area. Francis was united in marriage to Betty Jakoubek on October 27, 1948 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dresden, ND. They made their home near Dresden where they farmed and raised their family. Francis served on the South Dresden Township Board and donated his time to the Cavalier county Historical Society. They were members of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Dresden and later the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND. Francis enjoyed playing the violin. He enjoyed working with leather. He created holders for pliers, repaired shoes and fixed swather and canvas tarps for many friends and neighbors.
Francis is survived by his wife Betty of Langdon, ND, children: Joanne (Rodger) Fewell of Langdon, ND; Jeannette Schefter of Langdon, ND; Randy Muhs of Langdon, ND; Lance (Trina) Muhs of Langdon, ND, grandchildren: Brian Fewell of Minneapolis, MN; Jason (Teresa) Fewell of West Fargo, ND; Jeff Fewell of Langdon, ND; Nichole Schefter (Rick Rostvet) of Langdon, ND; Kirsten (Chad) Gendron of Langdon, ND; Philomena Muhs of Langdon and Maria Muhs of Langdon, ND, and six great-grandchildren.
Francis was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Anna Gallagher, Margaret Schluender, Bertha Muhs, Loretta Muhs, Robert Muhs, son-in-law Bill Schefter and grandson Clint Schefter.
Visitation will begin at 2pm Sunday December 28, 2008 with a 3:00pm Prayer Service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.
SERVICES will be held at 10:00am Monday December 29, 2008 at the St. Alphonsus Catholic church of Langdon, ND.
INTERMENT Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND.
