Frances J. Murray age 70, of Hamilton, ND died on Tuesday, February 6, 2007, at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 10, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Friday, February 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service at the church. Visitation at the church for one hour before services. Burial in the Hamilton Cemetery.
Frances Jean McEwen was born May 9, 1936, at Grafton ,ND to R.W. and Annie (O'Hara) McEwen. The first five years of her life they lived east of Hamilton and in 1941, moved south of Hamilton. She attended school at Hamilton, where she graduated with honors. Frances also attended Girls State and played high school basketball.
On June 11, 1954, she married Robert J. Murray in Cavalier. They spent their first two years together at Walhalla, ND, and in the fall of 1956, moved to Frances's grandmothers farm south of Hamilton. They farmed and lived there until retirement. She also worked as a bookkeeper at Murray Bean and later worked at Motor Coach Industries in Pembina.
She attended the Cavalier Baptist Church and was active in various church organizations. Along with being a member of the Hamilton Homemakers, she enjoyed ceramics with several of her friends.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; children, Donald Murray and friend Michelle Hardy, Cavalier, ND; Kathy Thorpe and fiance, Bruce Redenbaugh, Dodge City, KS; Diane Schoenheit, Breckenridge, MN; Judy (Jim) Maurer, Mandan, ND; Patty (Michael) Ahern, Dodge City, KS; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents.
Clergy: Pastor Matt Anderson and Rev. Tom Simmons.
Casket Bearers: Keith Hart, Kelly Hart, Jordan Maurer, Joshua Maurer, Jason Murray, Joe Murray, Kyle Schoenheit, Brian Whittier, and David Whittier.
Music: Cheryl Hartz, Organist; Jim Hines, Soloist and the North Valley Choir.
