Evelyn Rude

Evelyn Rude, 94, of Langdon, ND passed away December 30, 2014 at Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.

Evelyn Joyce Lundeby was born to Henry and Janetta (Baker) Lundeby on March 4, 1920 on their farm one mile west of Osnabrock, ND. She graduated from Osnabrock High School and then went on and graduated from Victorian School of Beauty in Grand Forks, ND on May 29, 1939. She then worked for Youngs Beauty Shop in Langdon. On August 23, 1947, Evelyn married Wallace W. Rude. They lived and farmed northeast of Langdon. In 1948, they became parents of a daughter, Vicki Lynn. In 1986, they moved themselves and their house into Langdon.

Wallace and Evelyn were members of South Pembina Lutheran Church until its closing in November of 1973. Evelyn was an active member and held several offices in the ALCW. They then joined the United Lutheran Church of Langdon on January 6, 1974. Evelyn served on the church council, was a member of the senior choir, and was an active member of the women’s organization, WELCA. Evelyn served as a director representing Cavalier County on the Human Services Board in Devils Lake, ND. She was also on the Cavalier County Social Services Board from 1966 to 1996, of which she was chairperson from 1966 to 1973.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter Vicki L. (Richard II) Reddic of Camas, WA; siblings: Kenneth (Phyllis) Lundeby, Vivian Johnson, Adelene Kepler, Eileen (Bill) Fahnlander, Marvin (Jeanette) Lundeby, Curtis (Patricia) Lundeby and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Wallace, brothers Cecil and Arnold; brothers-in-law Jens Johnson and Harold Kepler; and sister-in-law Margaret Lundeby.

Funeral Services for Evelyn will be held Saturday, May 16, 2015, at 1:00 p.m. at United Lutheran Church in Langdon, ND.
