Evelyn McConnell

Evelyn McConnell, 88, of Langdon, ND passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon.

Evelyn Bertha was born on November 18, 1925 in Rock Lake, ND to Thormod and Beathe (Jorgenson) Langerud. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Rock Lake High School. On November 8, 1945, she married Neil McConnell in Langdon. They farmed near Sarles, ND, where they raised their four children. In 1981, Evelyn and Neil moved to Devils Lake, ND. Neil passed away in October of 1995. Evelyn continued to live in Devils Lake until July of 2011 when she moved to Langdon to Wheatland Estates. She became a resident of Maple Manor Care Center in February of 2014.

Evelyn loved quilting, sewing, gardening, and machine embroidery. When she lived in Devils Lake, she would crochet prayer shawls at her church and later would receive one. Evelyn was always willing to help at events and enjoyed helping people. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Devils Lake, ND and Sarles Presbyterian Church.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Everett (Patricia) of Bismarck, ND, Howard of Sarles, ND, Lois (Daryl) McLeod of Sarles, Mary (Monte) Hermanson of Towner, ND; grandchildren: Amber (Dave) Augustadt, Abby McConnell, Annie (Andrew) Schmid, Will (Heather) McConnell, Kyle McConnell, Travis McLeod, Kristi (Mark) Kevorkian, Adam (Cassi) Hermanson, Reed Hermanson; great-grandchildren: Sophia Augustadt, Einar Schmid, Captain McConnell; sisters-in-law Fern Langerud and Ila Langerud; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and ten siblings: Clara, Hjalmar, Bennett, Alice, LeRoy, Alvin, Gordon, Palmer, Alton and Ellen.

Services: Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Maple Manor Care Center Chapel in Langdon, ND. Visitation will be one hour before service time.

Interment: Corinthian Cemetery - Calvin, ND
