Eugene James McMillan, 64, of Casselton, ND, formerly of Cavalier, ND, died on June 15, 2008 at Meritcare Hospital, Fargo, ND. Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 20, 2008, at United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND at 1:00 pm. Visitation at the church one hour prior to the service on Friday. Burial will be in the Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, ND. Arrangements by Jensen-Askew Funeral Home of Cavalier, ND.
Eugene was born on June 14, 1944 in Grafton, ND, the son of Harry and Ida (Skow) McMillan. He grew up on a farm by Hamilton, ND where he attended and graduated from high school in 1962. He attended Mayville State University for two years, and moved back to farm with his father and uncle Don McMillan until his retirement. He married Ona Torkelson on December 29, 1966 in Grafton, ND and to this union their daughter Nicole was born. The marriage dissolved in 1994. He lived in Cavalier and after retirement moved to Prescott Valley, Arizona where he met and married Pamela Wilson. They moved to Chandler, AZ and lived there until North Dakota called him back in 2005. They moved back to be closer to his daughter Nicole and his 4 beloved grandchildren. He loved to get a phone call from one of the kids saying, "Grandpa, can you come pick me up?" He was a life long supporter of the Pembina County Fair and loved to golf. He was an animal lover all his life, from the horses on the farm growing up, to always having a dog in the house. His two bichons, Snowball and Henry brought him much joy and laughter these past few years.
Eugene is survived by his wife, Pam of Casselton, ND, his daughter, Nicole (Todd) Smith, 4 grandchildren, Colby Eugene Smith, Kendra Nicole Smith, Keaton Robert Smith, and Ciara Ashley Smith, all of Cavalier, ND., sister, Patricia (DuWayne) Muth of Fargo, ND, step-son, Wilson (Sherry) Potter and his three sons of Irving, TX, step-daughter, Elizabeth Potter of Boulder, CO, one niece, Barbara (Matt) Wilson and her two children, one nephew, Brian (Arlyce) Muth and his three daughters, one aunt, Dorothy Dietrich of Cavalier, ND, and several cousins. He is preceded in death by his parents, and infant son, several aunts and uncles.
