Esther Kiemele, 93, of Cavalier, ND passed away on Monday, December 1, 2014, at the Borg Memorial Home, Mountain, ND where she had resided since August 29th of this year. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 3rd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial will be held in the Cavalier Cemetery.
Esther Virginia Dietrich was born June 29, 1921 at McArthur, Pembina County, ND to John and Margaret (Deck) Dietrich. She attended her first year of school at McArthur. In 1928, her parents and family moved to Glasston, ND where they farmed. She finished her schooling at Glasston.
On October 24, 1940, she married Fred Kiemele at the Evangelical Parsonage in Cavalier. Esther worked as a partner on the farm with her husband, Fred, being involved in all aspects of the farm. One son was born to this union, Fred Jr. "Freddie". He joined the farm operation in 1959. Esther was proud to live to see five generations on the place she and Fred first settled. In 1973, Esther and Fred retired and moved to Cavalier. Fred passed away in 1984.
She then married Alfred Latozke in 1993, and he passed away in 2010.
Esther was very dedicated to her Church and there she shared her love of music. She was a self-taught pianist and played many years for the Sunday School children and for many other occasions. She sang in the church choir, quartets, and many trios at Trinity as long as she was able. Products of her other talents were excellent baked and canned goods. The canning family get-togethers will be remembered with fondness.
Her family was much loved and enjoyed by her. She will be remembered for her love and dedication to her faith, family, and friends. She gave God all the praise for the blessings in her life.
Survivors include her son, Fred (Carole) Kiemele; grandson, Bret (Gay) Kiemele; great grandsons: Jarett and Derek, all of Cavalier; many dear nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Margaret Dietrich, Martha Dietrich, and Doreen Dietrich; stepchildren: Don (Joni) Latozke and Irene (John) Morrison.
Others preceding her in death were her grandchildren: Scott and Rhonda; infant brothers: Charles, Henry, and Lawrence Dietrich; brothers: John, Jake, Peter, William, Chris, and Kenneth Dietrich; sisters: Barbara Knuth, Kathryn Raedel, Margaret Demester, Rose Paul, and Florence Nelson. Esther was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
