Ernie Young

Ernie Young, 89, of Neche, ND passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, May 30th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial in the Neche Union Cemetery, Neche, ND.
George Ernest Young was born June 27, 1921, at Neche, ND to Matthew and Christine (Pietz) Young. He grew up and attended school at Neche.
On August 23, 1943, he married Vivian Plante at Cavalier, ND.
He farmed in the Neche area and for a time in the winter months did masonry work in Atlanta, GA and worked at Kedney Warehouse in Grand Forks. After retiring from farming he worked at Motor Coach Industries in Pembina, ND, retiring from there after 18 years of work. Ernie enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. His hobbies included gardening, travel, and photography.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian; daughters: Sue Menke (Larry Wamre), West Fargo, ND, Gail (Fred) Bond, Champlin, MN, Debbie (Mike) Bailly, Walhalla, and Kristi (Rick) Jackson, West Fargo; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and sister, Frances Spicer.
