Emma Harrison was born April 21, 1952, the daughter of Henry E. and Elizabeth
Harrison of Fort Yates, ND. She was born at Fort Yates and attended grades
one through eight at St. Bernard's Mission School and high school at both
Stephan, S.D. and Fort Yates, ND. She lived in Boiling Springs, SC for 11
years before moving to Pembina, ND in August of 2012.
She never let her life long battle with cerebral
palsy stand in her way of living life to its fullest. She worked at the
Headstart in Fort Yates before attending the University of Mary in
Bismarck. Emma enjoyed spending time with family and friends, she had a
love for animals and a heart of gold. In the early 1960's she was a poster child for Easter Seals.
She is survived by two daughters: Jennifer (Barry) Jesser of Baker, MT and Elizabeth (Jason) Rakes
of Boiling Springs, SC, four grandsons; Kyle Hall of Baker, Mt, Casey
Demchuck of Bismarck, ND, Shawn and Dillon Rakes of Boiling Springs, SC,
one great grandson; Ben Hall of Billings, Mt, three brothers; Ben, Henry, and
Joe Harrison, two sisters; Beata Dennis) Crotty and Henrietta Marvin. Emma was
preceded in death by her parents Henry and Elizabeth, brothers: Kernal,
Bill, Leroy, Jim, John, and Dee; sisters, Alice (Snooks) Underberg and
Mary Poitra and one daughter Sheila.
Emma was taken home by the Angels on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at her home in Pembina.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Satruday, January 24, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fort Yates, ND. Burial will be held in the St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery.
