She lived in Cavalier her entire life except for 11 years, when she moved with her parents to Dashwood, Ontario. At the age of nine she was hired by her neighbors to care for a new baby, cook, bake, and do laundry, thus she only attended school through the third grade. From that time on she worked for many families.
On June 1, 1927, she married Rudolph Werner at Cavalier. They worked together on the family farm and always had a large garden. She raised gladiolas and many other flowers, which she received many awards for. Throughout the years the church enjoyed her baskets of flowers and she also arranged many bridal bouquets. On June 28, 1962, they moved into Cavalier after retiring from farming. Rudolph passed away on April 10, 1970.
Emily was a member of the Dorcas Circle Missionary Group and the Progressive Workers quilting group. She was a blessing to all who knew her.
