Emily G. Gudmundson, 85, of Mountain, ND passed away Friday, January 2, 2015, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, ND. A memorial service will be held Thursday, January 8, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Vikur Lutheran Church, Mountain, ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial will be held in the Mountain Cemetery
Emily G. Kristjanson was born March 22, 1929, at Grafton ND to Johann Julius and Mathildur (Melsted) Kristjanson. She grew up in the Eyford community near Mountain and graduated from Mountain High School in 1946. After receiving her teacher's certificate from Mayville State Teachers College, she taught for one year in a one room school north of Mountain.
On November 14, 1947, she married Gudmundur Gudmundson at Mountain. They farmed in the Mountain area where she was a homemaker. She later cooked at the Borg Home in Mountain, was a teacher's aid at the Edinburg School, and also later worked for a potato farmer in the fall of the year. Emily enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Survivors include her sons: Gene (Helen), Mountain, ND, Lowell (Cecilia) , South Hadley, MA, Tim (Debbie Reilly), Mountain, ND, Eric (Kari), Euclid, MN; grandchildren: Sarah (Cesar) Ercole, Mindy (Jeff) Frye, Miranda and Laura Gudmundson; Paula and Darryl Gudmundson; Devin and Keira Gudmundson; great-grandchildren: Griffin Gudmundson and Fiona Frye; siblings: Marcella Erickson, Margery Trenbeath, Melvin (Karen) Kristjanson, Esther Syrup, Alfred Kristjanson, Joyce Perila, George (Diane) Kristjanson.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Gudmundur on January 11, 1976; brother, Joe Kristjanson; sisters: Sigurros Arlyn Kristjanson, Kristbjorg Hjalmarson and Helen Hurley.
