Emery R. Hartz

Emery R. Hartz age 79 of Cavalier, ND died on Friday, January 13, 2006, at the Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 17, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, January 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church on Tuesday for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Emery Russell Hartz was born October 11, 1926, at Cavalier, ND to John and Clara (Restemayer) Hartz. He grew up and attended school at Cavalier and graduated from Cavalier High School. Emery farmed in the Cavalier his entire life and also raised turkeys for 26 years. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church.
On June 11, 1947, he married Lois Peterson at Cavalier, ND. Lois died on March 28, 1992.
He is survived by his children, Gary (Janet) Hartz, Poolesville, MD; Diana (Michael) O'Shaughnessy and Carol (Jim) Groven all of Grand Forks, ND; Judy Schmitz, Granger, IA; Dale (Kay) Hartz, Maple Valley, WA, and David (Susan) Hartz, Cavalier, ND; 14 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren; sisters, Martha Dietrich, Cavalier, ND and Fern Dobbins, Merced, CA.
Emery was also preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Agnes Hartz, sisters, Evelyn Brosam and Margaret Dobbins, and brother, Lloyd Hartz.
