Emeric Metzger

Emeric C. Metzger, 91, of Langdon, ND, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.



Emeric Clarence was born November 25, 1922, at Mt. Carmel, ND, to Severius and Lucy (Perius) Metzger. He was educated in Mt. Carmel, Moscow Township and in Wales, ND. Emeric joined the CCC and worked in a CCC Camp at Larimore, ND, before entering the United States Army. He served in the US Army from February 1944 to 1946. Emeric earned a Purple Heart while serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater, where he was hospitalized for one month after being wounded in Okinawa. He returned to the Langdon area and began work with Cavalier Rural Electric in February of 1947. He was a lineman, line superintendent and an electrician for REA, retiring in December of 1984. Emeric was united in marriage to Patricia Schneider on June 19, 1947, at St. Michael's Church in Wales, ND. They became the loving parents of four children. After retirement, they enjoyed over twenty years of wintering in Mesa, AZ. Emeric was a member of the American Legion Post #98, the VFW, Langdon Eagles, St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and was a past Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus.



Emeric is survived by his wife Pat of Langdon; children: Lola (Duane) Gellner of Fargo, ND, Colleen Spreckelmeyer of Bellingham, WA, Jim Metzger of Minot, ND, Margy (Ken) Spangler of Sedro Woolley, WA; grandchildren: Rob, Marney and Ryan Gellner, Wade and Kyle Spreckelmeyer, Brian Metzger, Nick and Kayla Spangler; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings: Arnold (Alice) Metzger of Langdon, ND, Ray (Lorraine) Metzger of Byron, MN, Sister Petronilla of Fargo, ND, Gerry Waltz of Langdon, ND, Marilyn (Art) Gapp of Walhalla, ND, Josie (Ken) Bittner of Minot, ND and numerous nieces and nephews.



He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers: Syl, Nestor, Roy, and Maury.





Visitation will begin at 6:30pm with a 7:00pm prayer service, on Thursday, February 6, 2014, at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.



Services will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014, at 1:00 pm at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.



Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery, of Langdon, ND,in the spring.
