Elsie Karsky, 86, of Langdon, ND, passed away Monday September 18, 2006 at the Altru Hospital of Grand Forks, ND.
Elsie Andrys was born August 6, 1920 at Hannah, ND to George and Marie (Hatry) Andrys. The Andrys family moved to Langdon in 1927 where Elsie was educated. She went on to attend Secretarial College in St. Paul MN and prior to her marriage was employed by AAA and the Federal Land Bank. She was united in marriage to George John Karsky on June 30, 1942 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND. They made their home in Langdon and became the parents of seven children. Elsie was active in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Society and the Catholic Daughters, serving as the state treasurer for six years. She was also active in Homeakers Club, the VFW Auxiliary, the Cavalier County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Eagles Auxiliary and served as Secretary/Treasurer of the Rural Fire Department.
Elsie is survived by her children: Carol (Joe) Villalobos, Topeka, KS; Richard (Ann), Missoula, MT; Thomas (Odie), Pullman, WA; Gerald (Fiance Bonnie Dahl), Langdon, ND; Dennis (Barbara), Langdon, ND; Deb Van Abbema, Crystal, MN; grandchildren: Scott Stremick, Suzann Skiple, Steven Karsky, Tricia Karsky, Jodie Karsky, Laura Karsky, Kristin Karsky, Adam Karsky, Bryan Karsky and Alex Van Abbema, five great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters: George A. (Luane) Andrys, East Grand Forks, MN; Rosemary Wierum, Houston, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, son Steven, brothers Raymond and James Andrys, and sister Mildred Bradshaw.
VISITATION Thursday September 21, 2006 starting at 3:00 O ââ¬ï¿½Clock with a 7:30pm Prayer Service at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.
Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of the services at the church on Friday.
SERVICES Friday September 22, 2006 at 2:00 O ââ¬ï¿½Clock at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church of Langdon, ND.
INTERMENT Calvary Cemetery, Langdon, ND.
In Lieu of Flowers, memorials are suggested to the St. Alphonsus School Foundation or a charity of the givers choosing.
