Elmer Ivan Tesmer, 86, of Walhalla, ND, passed away on September 22, 2015, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 26, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Walhalla Lutheran Church, Walhalla. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla.
Elmer Ivan Tesmer was born on May 31, 1929 to Gus and Lena (Schulz) Tesmer on the family farm four miles north of Walhalla, ND. He attended the Coburn Country School through eighth grade before starting his farming career with his dad and brother Donald.
On July 15, 1950, Elmer married Marcia Loy Wilson at Sharon Lutheran Church in Grand Forks, ND. He and Marcia spent 32 winters in Mesa, AZ. He was a member of the Confederate Air Force in Mesa and served on the Walhalla Farmers Elevator Board. Things he enjoyed were fishing at Rocky Point on Lake of the Woods, MN and hunting deer every fall in the Walhalla area.
Survivors include his wife, Marcia Loy; children; Dale Tesmer of Colorado, Sherry (Dwight) Fleming, Hamilton, ND, Carol (Brad) Seger, Port Orchard, WA, Dean (Brenda) Tesmer, DeForest, WI, Ellen (Mitch) Syverson, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Bobbi Jo, Kristi, Jennifer and Nicole; Samantha and Travis; Cassandra and James; Joshua and Adam; eight great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents and brothers, Homer and Donald.
