Elmer Schneider

July 26, 1932 — January 5, 2016

Elmer Schneider, 83, of West Fargo, ND and formerly of Langdon, ND, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Bethany on University under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Elmer, the son of Ray and Elsie (Johnson) Schneider, was born July 26, 1932 at Hannah, ND. He attended all 12 years of school at Hannah, graduating in 1950. Elmer served in the US Army from 1953-1955. Upon his discharge, he worked on the family farm. On June 25, 1957, Elmer was united in marriage to Geraldine Ann Kram in Dresden, ND. The couple made their home in Hannah for a few years and then moved to the family farm where they lived for 28 years. They then moved to Langdon for 21 years before moving to West Fargo in 2009.

Elmer has been a continuous, paid-up-in-full member of the American Legion since 1955, first at Hannah Post #104 and then at Langdon Post #98. He was also a member of Eagles Aerie #3454 and the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Elmer is survived by his wife of 58 years, Geraldine, of West Fargo, ND; two daughters: Susan (Randy) Woodley and Carolyn (Gene) Long; three grandchildren: Jamie, Kayla, and Carter; two great-granddaughters: Katelyn and Annika; two sisters and one brother. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one grandson.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will take place from 5-7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon with the Rosary starting at 6:40 p.m. and a 7:00 prayer service. Visitation will also take place for one hour before the time of service at the church on Saturday.
