Owatonna, MN - Former Drayton, ND Postmaster Ellen E. Dick died December 11, 2006, after an extended illness.

Born Ellen Evelyn Braaten on a family farm on January 10, 1931 in Nekoma, ND, Ellen graduated from Nekoma High School and Aakers Business College, Grand Forks. Ellen married John W. Dick in 1954 and moved to Drayton, ND in 1962.

Ellen retired as Postmaster of the Drayton, ND Post Office after a long career with the United States Postal Service. Ellen was active in the Drayton United Methodist Church and the Women's Circle. Ellen especially enjoyed traveling, spending considerable time with her children and grandchildren in the U.S. the U.K. and Europe. Ellen moved to Owatonna, MN in 1998 to be near her family.

Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Dick, who was a Service Representative for Otter Tail Power Company; her parents, Evelyn Idland and Elmer Braaten, and her brother Darrell Braaten.

Surviving are her daughter Susan Worms and her husband Leonard of Owatonna, Minnesota; son Monte Dick and his wife Cathy of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Daughter Colleen Champlin and her husband Jon of Pocatello, Idaho; and son Jeff Dick and his wife Kathryn of Oakton, Virginia; and eight grandchildren - Timothy Worms, Brittany Murray, Kris Murray, Megan Dick, Nathan Dick, Madeline Dick, Gretchen Dick and Conner Dick.

Visitation will begin at 6:30 with a 7:00pm Prayer service on Thursday Dec 14, 2006 at the Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND.

SERVICES Friday December 15, 2006 at 2:00pm at the Nekoma Lutheran Church, Nekoma, ND

INTERMENT Nekoma Cemetery, Nekoma, ND
