Elin Rambeck, 92, of Hensel, ND, died on Saturday, April 26, 2008, at her home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the Cavalier Evangelical Free Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 29th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial will be in the Cavalier Cemetery. Arrangements with Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND.
Elin Thorey Erlendson was born February 7, 1916, on a farm near Akra, ND to Jacob J. and Gwennie (Asgrimson Emerson) Erlendson. After attending Scheving and Hensel schools, and graduating from Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River in 1934, she worked in Langdon as a housekeeper and nanny. From 1941 to 1945, Elin worked at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL as head salad chef. For several years she worked at the North Dakota School for the Blind in Bathgate, in the kitchen, as the boys dorm mother, and as a bus driver. Later in life she worked as a nurses aide at Borg Memorial Home and the Wedgewood Manor.
On November 12, 1949, she married Vincent Rambeck at Vidalin Lutheran Church, rural Hensel. They lived on the family farm for 59 years. She brought her culinary and nurturing skills to practice in feeding farm workers and raising five children. Elin was active in the church, was a true friend with a good listening ear for many, and participated in numerous church and community events.
She is survived by her husband, Vincent; children, Olivia (Jimmy) Castro, Mililani, HI, Douglas (Kathy) Rambeck, East Grand Forks, MN, Alice Lee, Fresno, CA, Neal (Barb) Rambeck, Burnsville, MN, and Beth (Bill) Kemp, Hamilton, ND; grandchildren, Naomi and Karyn Castro; Nathan, Katie, and Bethany Rambeck; Michael, Heather, and Laura Lee; Daniel Rambeck; and Peter, Renae, Brent, and Melissa Kemp; sisters-in-law, Anne Merrill, Donna Brevik, Doris Jenkins, and Ellen Rambeck; brother-in-law, Jay (Marion) Rambeck.
Preceding her in death were her parents, siblings, Eggert and Jake Erlendson, and Ida McConnell, and son-in-law, Gene.

Music: Christine Hughes, Organist; Pam Clarksean, Soloist; Men's Quartet, Dennis Clark, Bill Kemp, Don Kemp, and Greg Mayo.
Casket Bearers: Tom Beard, Jeff Erlendson, John Erlendson, Paul Erlendson, Richard Espeland, Kurt Kraulik, and Scott Kraulik.
