Elaine T. Swanson

Elaine T. Swanson, 72, of Walhalla, ND passed away Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial will be held in the Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Olga, ND.
Elaine T. Chaput was born October 31, 1944 at Langdon, ND to Leo and Bernadette (Kalis) Chaput. She grew up in the Olga area and graduated from Walhalla High School. Elaine worked as a nurse's aide at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla, Cavalier County Memorial Hospital, Langdon and the Good Samaritan Center, East Grand Forks, MN.
Elaine's smile and laugh will be missed dearly. She enjoyed being around people and had many close relationships with both family and friends. She liked to spend time with the ones she loved . . . going to the restaurants, playing cards, or just sitting and talking over coffee. Elaine loved being a mom. She always had time for her daughter, spending afternoons at the mall or sewing all her clothes when she was young. So no surprise her daughter grew up to be a Fashion Designer influenced by her mom. They had a special mother/daughter friendship through the years making memories by going to social gatherings, making special dinners together and watching favorite movies. Her daughter inherited her strength and hard-working skills. Elaine had a servant heart at her job and also outside of work. She also enjoyed being with animals, listening to music, baking, and crocheting. Elaine's faith was very important to her and now she is dancing with the Lord.
On April 30, 1971, she married Vernon Swanson at Olga, ND. He survives as does her daughter, Lisa Marie Swanson, Walhalla; siblings: Lorraine Dalsted and Francis (Linda) Chaput, all of Walhalla; Jim (Jan) Chaput, Langdon, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings: Annette Loewen, Dennis Chaput, and Leo Chaput, Jr.
