Effie Bingenheimer

Effie Bingenheimer, 98, of Langdon, ND, and formerly of Hutchinson, MN, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at the Maple Manor Care Center of Langdon, ND.

Effie Alicia was born August 5, 1915, to Edwin and Ruth (Payne) Olson, on a farm north of Langdon, ND. The first eight years of her education were in a one room school in Westhope Township in Cavalier County. She graduated from Langdon High School in 1934. Following that she went to Aakers Business School in Grand Forks, ND. After completion of her schooling, she went to Minneapolis. During WWII, she worked as a secretary in a defense plant where 30 and 50 caliber bullets were made.

In 1947, Effie returned home for her mother's funeral in July and remained home to care for her father and cook for the harvesters. She returned to Minneapolis in December of that year after her father's death. In January of 1947, she went to work for General Mills remaining there until 1954. She then worked for various other places until her marriage to Harry Bingenheimer in 1959. They made their home in Hutchinson, MN. She became a homemaker until 1975 when she went to work for the Department of Natural Resources. When the job was transferred to New Ulm, MN, she commuted for one year and then retired in 1985. After the death of her husband in 1997, she returned to Langdon in 1999 to live with her sister, Rhena Lorenz, and to be closer to family.

While in Hutchinson, Effie was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, was a Past Worthy Matron of Hutchinson's Eastern Star #27, and a Past President of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #96. She enjoyed reading, sewing, walking, playing cards and flowers.

She was preceded in death by her parents, twin brothers Alden and Arthur Olson, sisters: Mildred Olson, Hazel McFarlane and Rhena Lorenz, and brother Marten Olson.

She is survived by her brother Ronald (Helen) Olson of Langdon and nieces and nephews.

SERVICES Will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014, at 2:00pm, at the Maple Manor Care Center Chapel, Langdon, ND, with the Reverend Adrian Olson of Langdon officiating.

INTERMENT Oakland Cemetery, Hutchinson, MN
