Edna Cecilia Waslaski, 79, Grand Forks, ND, died Tuesday, September 12, 2016 at Valley Eldercare Center in Grand Forks, ND.
Edna Loreth was born September 18, 1936 to Frank & Elizabeth (Stremick) Loreth in Langdon, ND. She attended school in Langdon. On November 20, 1954, she was married to Edward W. Waslaski Sr. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon.
First and foremost, she was a stay at home mother to their 7 children and a homemaker. Her children have always been and will always be known as the older ones and the 3 little ones. Once their children were off to school, she held positions in customer services, retail and caretaking for many years. Her most favorite seasonal work was driving grain truck during harvest for her nephew & family, Duane & Margret Rueger, and later Dean & Kathy Rueger. After her husband passed away, Edna moved to Valley City to work for our priest and family friend, Fr. Michael Schommer. This, above all else, was her all-time favorite and fulfilling employment as housekeeper and church custodian. She worked there until her health started to decline. In 2011, she moved to Grand Forks to be near her son, Shane.
In 2014 she was moved into the Valley Eldercare Center where she lived until her death. Some of her favorite hobbies were baking & cooking from scratch, gardening, sewing and quilting. Her ability to sew was wonderful. She made clothes for her children as they grew up as well as very beautiful quilts & blankets. She was a member of the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters.
