Edna (Aaserud) Erickson, 87, of Clifford, ND, and formerly of Langdon, ND, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 25, 2013 at Sanford Palliative Care of Fargo, ND.
Edna Mildred Aaserud was born on November 20, 1925, in Cooperstown, ND to Otto and Martha (Lima) Aaserud. They lived in Griggs County before moving to the family farm in Portland. Edna attended Roseville Township School, Mayville High School, and Mayville State Teacherââ¬â¢s College. Starting in 1944, she taught in one-room schools throughout eastern ND. She enjoyed teaching and keeping track of her students and their lives. She was proud and happy to hear of their contributions in their communities.
On August 21, 1966, she married Henry Erickson in the Bruflat Lutheran Church in Portland. They lived on their farm near Langdon until Henry died in 1989. Edna lived in Langdon and Fargo, moving to Clifford in 2008. Before marrying, Edna was a member of the Trinity (Roseville) Lutheran Church and was active in Luther League, LDR, ALCW, and WELCA. In Langdon, she was active in Big Pembina Lutheran Church, Homemakerââ¬â¢s Club, and American Cancer Society for more than 20 years. She loved gardening and doing embroidery.
Although her family and friends mourn her passing, they are grateful that her suffering is over. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Martin Aaserud, Agnes Kalvik, Oswald Aaserud, Helen Aaserud, and Erling Aaserud, and brother-in-law Richard Brauer. She is survived by siblings: Gladys (John) Aasen (Clifford, ND), Clarence (Karen) Aaserud (Edgewood, WA), and Marie Brauer (Reseda, CA), in-laws: Martha Aaserud (Las Vegas, NV), Marlene Aaserud (Fort Wayne, IN), Joyce Aaserud (Fargo), Orville Kalvik (Fargo) and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation: Friday, February 1, 2013 from 5-7 p.m., followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service at the Brooks Funeral Home, Langdon.
Funeral: Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 1:30 p.m., United Lutheran Church, Langdon.
Memorial Service: Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at 2:30 p.m., Norman Lutheran Church, Clifford.
Interment: Big Pembina Lutheran Cemetery, rural Langdon, ND.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to the American Cancer Society, Norman Lutheran Church, or Big Pembina Lutheran Church.
