Earl E. Papenfuss, 83, Cavalier, ND passed away Saturday, September 7, 2013, at his home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier. Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 11th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier. Burial will be held in the Cavalier Cemetery.
Earl was born December 2, 1929, at Glasston, ND to Erwin and Cecelia (Sellheim) Papenfuss. He grew up in the Hamilton, ND area, where he attended school. After serving in the U.S. Army for two years he returned to Cavalier, where he worked for Marvin Freschette in the gas station for eleven years. He then worked for his Uncle Charlie farming and raising hogs for 28 years and later for the Myron Kemnitz farm.
He was married to Christine Thorlakson and later Jeanette Grube.
Earl was a member of the Cavalier Fire Department, Cavalier American Legion, and the United Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his daughters: Wendy (Rod) Miller, Indianapolis, IN and Connie Darley, South Whitley, IN; grandchildren: Jamie Sowers, Erik Miller, Ashley Miller, Devon Grube, Desiree Hopkins, Jeremy Grube, Brent Grube; several great-grandchildren; siblings: Dennes Papenfuss, Cavalier and Nira Fredericksen, Mitchell, SD; stepsons: Bob Grube, Walhalla, ND and Ron Grube, Cavalier.
Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant son; stepson, Rodney Grube; siblings: Clemeth and Louis Papenfuss, and Norma Thorlakson.
