Earl Morrison

Earl D. Morrison, 94, of Cavalier, ND. passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 12, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church, Cavalier ND. Visitation will be held Friday, March 11th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. rosary and prayer service at the church. Visitation at the church on Saturday for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the St. Brigid of Ireland Cemetery, Cavalier. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Pembina County Historical Society, Cavalier Ambulance Service, St. Bridgid's Catholic Church, or charity of choice.
Earl was born September 14, 1916, in Bathgate Township to Glenn E. and Marie Antoinette (Miron) Morrison. He graduated from Bathgate High School and attended St. John's University at Collegeville, MN. After graduating from the Agriculture College in Fargo with a degree in mechanical engineering he worked on the Fort Peck Dam in Montana, prior to being employed by the Great Northern Railroad.
On October 20, 1941, he married Margaret Neuenschwander at Fessenden, ND. They moved to Cavalier in 1947, where he worked at the implement dealership with his father. In 1950, they moved to Neche where he purchased the International Harvester dealership. He returned to Cavalier in 1963, to operate the dealership until his retirement in 2000. After retirement he enjoyed coffee time with his many friends and was an avid Bison and Twins supporter.
While in Neche, Earl served as mayor and was a charter member of the Knights of Columbus where he also served as Grand Knight. As past president of the Pembina County Historical Society, he was instrumental in founding the Annual Pioneer Machinery Show, moving of the St. Anthony's Catholic Church and the Bathgate Depot, and the construction of the new museum building. He was also a member of the Northeast North Dakota Heritage Association.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret; children: Beth Olson, Minneapolis, MN; Dennis (Patricia) Morrison, Cavalier; Bill Morrison, Austin, TX; Donna Morrison (Terrence Johnson), Fargo; Patty (Marty) Anderson, Minot, ND; Michael (Kristi) Morrison, Hallock, MN; grandchildren: Dennis Olson II, Kendric Olson, John Olson, Nathaniel Morrison, Daniel Morrison, Andrea Morrison, Christina Morrison, Gregory Morrison, Christa Anderson, Paul Morrison, Brian Morrison, and Melissa Morrison; two great grandchildren, Clare and Peter Olson; and brother, Myron "Pinky" Morrison, Lindstrom, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents, sister, Azeline Martin, and son-in-law, Dennis Olson.
