Duane C. Shephard

Duane C. Shephard, 82, of Grand Forks, formerly of Crystal, ND died Sunday, June 13, 2010, at Wedgewood Manor, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 17, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Crystal United Methodist Church, Crystal. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service and Masonic service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Crystal Memorial Cemetery.
Duane was born February 14, 1928, on the family farm near Crystal to Camburn and Ruth (Baker) Shephard. He farmed most of his life in the Crystal area and worked for the North Dakota State Seed Department for over 20 years. He loved his family, farming, and playing pinochle.
He was a member of the Crystal Fire Department, Crystal United Methodist Church, and Tongue River Masonic Lodge.
On March 2, 1951, he married Janet Lohse at Crookston, MN, she died on April 27, 1989. He then married Marian Keena on January 28, 1997, at Las Vegas, NV.
Survivors include his wife, Marian; children, Claudia (Calvin) Dupree, Jamestown, ND, Kyle (Carol) Shephard, Cavalier, ND, Kevin (Marilyn) Shephard, Langdon, ND; step children, Wendy Keena, East Grand Forks, MN, Cathy (Tim) Gilleland, Crookston, MN, Tammy (Mike) Mack, East Grand Forks, Shelle (Mike) Schmidt, Hatton, ND, Kim Keena, Grand Forks; sisters, Joyce Gee, Victorville, CA, Elizabeth Anderson and Donna (John) Rutford, all of Roseville, MN; brother, Albert (Eileen) Shephard, Edinburg, ND; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; grandson, Jason Shephard; and sisters, Bernice Mohs and Delores Estad.
