Duane Byron

Duane Byron, age 80, of Mountain, ND died on Sunday, December 06, 2009, at the Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 10, 2009, at 10: 30 a.m. at the Vikur Lutheran Church, Mountain ND. Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 9th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. Masonic service at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services.
Louis Duane Byron was born February 17, 1929, at Mountain, ND to Louis M. and Myrtle M. (Johannesson) Byron. He grew up and attended school at Mountain. Duane served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
On December 3, 1949, he married Lauraine E. Christianson near Mountain. They owned and operated Byron's Auto from 1949 to 1961, and then purchased Byron's Bar which they ran until their retirement in July of 2003. Lauraine passed away on March 22, 2004.
Duane was a member of the Tongue River Masonic Lodge, Kem Temple Shrine and 49'ers, and the Bjornson-Sigfusson Post #227, Mountain American Legion.
He is survived his daughter, Lori Cameron, Grand Forks, ND; grandson, Tyler Cameron, Crystal, ND, brothers, Rodney (Marlyss) Byron, Mountain, and Eugene (Meredith) Byron, Grand Forks, ND; and sister, Phyllis (Roger) Aarseth, Minneapolis, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Also preceding him in death were his parents.
