Drina Hansel

Drina Hansel, 74, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018, at Maple Manor Care Center in Langdon, ND.

Drina Pauline (Lawson) Hansel was born February 3, 1944, in Langdon, ND, to Hance O. and Mary (Ellis) Lawson. After graduation from Hannah Public School, she attended college in Mayville, ND. Upon attaining her teaching credential, she taught in Starkweather, ND, and finished her bachelor’s degree in education by attending summer school. Drina started teaching in Langdon in 1967 and taught until retiring in 2008 with 40+ years of teaching. Drina had a Special Ed. degree and an administration degree. She was superintendent at St. Alphonsus School for one year.

Drina was united in marriage to Dennis Hansel on February 22, 1969, at St. Alphonsus Church in Langdon. In her spare time, Drina liked to bake and decorate cakes. She made several wedding and specialty cakes for family and friends. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary, Odd Fellows and Rebekah and was a 50-year Eastern Star member.

Drina is survived by her husband, Dennis, of Langdon; daughter Stephanie (Blair Seelhammer) of Rochester, MN; grandchildren: Taylor, Jaxon and Julia Seelhammer of Rochester, MN; brother-in- law Ken Shaw of Thief River Falls, MN; sisters-in- law Phyllis Lawson of Williston, ND, and Romell Lawson of Minot, ND; nephew Doug Lawson; and nieces Deborah Shiflett and Colleen Gustafson. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Joanne Shaw and brothers Hance James and Kenneth Lawson.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 29, 2018, at Brooks Funeral Home. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Langdon.
