Dorothy A. Sharp, 98, of Cavalier, ND and formerly of Hamilton, ND, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier. A memorial service will be Friday, August 28, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cavalier Presbyterian Church, Cavalier. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier. Burial will be in the Hamilton Cemetery, Hamilton, ND.
Dorothy A. Fischer was born on October 21, 1916, to Wilhem and Myrtle (Storms) Fischer in Buxton, ND. She grew up in Buxton and Joliette, ND where she attended school. On December 18, 1936, she married Harvey Sharp. They made their home in Carlisle Township, where they farmed. Harvey passed away on December 8, 1986. In May of 2013, she moved to Cavalier. Things she enjoyed were genealogy, sewing, quilting, and gardening. She was a former member of the Joliette United Methodist Church and UMW. She was also active in the local Homemakers Group and 4-H.
Survivors include her children: Dian Cameron, Upland, CA, Ronald (Edna) Sharp, Hamilton, Claudia (Jud) Biglow, Frazier Park, CA, Roxan (Leo) Baca, Taos, NM, Gary (Jody) Sharp, Hamilton; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Alice Wells, Joliette.
Preceding her in death were her parents; step-father, Claude Wells; son, Darrell; daughter, Janice; brother, Frederick; half-brothers: Grover and Marvin; sisters: Wilhelmina and Elsie; half-sisters: Bessie and Jessie, and great-granddaughter, Sadie Sharp.
