Dorothy Albine Gustafson, the daughter of Fred and Rose (Carrier) Bourbanis, was born on September 7, 1924 at Olga, ND. She grew up in the Olga area and attended country school near her childhood home.
She was united in marriage to Orville Gustafson on June 1, 1946 in Olga, and they farmed in the Cavalier area for their entire married life. Dorothy also worked for many years outside of her home at the Borg Memorial Home in Mountain, ND until retiring in 1988.
Dorothy loved gardening at her farm, playing cards, playing bingo, and cooking for her family. She especially cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her favorite pastime was to be with family and friends at her farm near Cavalier.
She is survived by her sons: Orville (Joanna) Gustafson, Jr. of West Fargo, ND, Robert (Nancy) Gustafson of Eagle River, AK, Dennis (Marcella) Gustafson of West Fargo, ND, Olaf (Paula) Gustafson of Mapleton, ND, Kenny Gustafson of West Fargo, ND; her daughters: Julie (Don) Hager of Wichita, KS, Loretta (Mac) Landen of Cheyenne, WY; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother: Percy (Rose) Bourbanis of Algoma, WI; three sisters: Geneva (Vic) Harildstad of Mesa, AZ, Doris Dearinger of Walhalla, ND, Grace Goodrie of Hibbing, MN; other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers: Jerome, Leonard, Eugene, Oscar, and Fred; her sisters: Cecelia and Sara; and one great-granddaughter: Brittany Rose Hager.
