Dorothy M. Dietrich

Dorothy M. Dietrich age 87 of Crystal, ND passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2009, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Crystal, ND. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 27th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Jensen-Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the St. John's Cemetery.
Dorothy Lawonn was born October 3, 1921, near Hensel, ND to Erick H. and Martha (Ault) Lawonn. She grew up in the Hensel area and graduated from Hensel High School.
On October 23, 1940, she married George H. Dietrich at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, St. Thomas, ND. After their marriage they farmed in the St. Thomas and Crystal areas. George passed away on November 19, 2001.
She was active in the church Ladies Aide and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. Dorothy was also a 4-H leader and involved in other community organizations.
Survivors include her children, Dwight (Pamela) Dietrich, Langdon, ND, Eric (Eunice) Dietrich, Cavalier, ND, Janelle (James) Chaput, Langdon, ND, daughter-in-law, Mari Dietrich, Crystal, ND, 14 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, brother, Erick Jr. (Shirley) Lawonn, Hensel, ND, sister-in-law, Mae Lawonn, Cavalier, ND.
Also preceding her in death were her parents, son, Richard Dietrich, granddaughters, Rebecca and Sara Dietrich, brothers, Herbert "Bunch" and Kenneth Lawonn, sister, Gwen Dunnigan.
Clergy: Rev. Bernhard Seter.
Casket Bearers: All of Dorothy's Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.
