Donna Sapa

Donna Sapa, 73, of Cavalier, ND passed away Monday, December 3, 2012, at her home. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 7, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 6th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Burial in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Leroy, ND.
Donna was born July 14, 1939, at Grafton, ND to Valdimar and Louise (Jonasson) Olafson. She grew up in the Gardar area and graduated from Gardar High School. She then attended Aaker's Business College in Grand Forks, ND.
On April 4, 1961, she married Joseph Sapa at Crookston, MN. After their marriage they farmed in the Cavalier area and also had a painting business. Joe passed away on August 16, 2008.
She had a passion for horses and in 1996, started the Sandhills Riders Saddle Club. Donna also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and gardening. She was a member of the Peter's Lutheran Church at Svold, ND.
Survivors include her children: Jerri (Lori Beth) Sapa, Edinburg, ND, Brad (Lisa) Sapa and Corey Sapa (companion, Joan Curry) all of Crystal, ND; grandchildren: Jeffrey, Britta, Christopher; McKenzie and Nicholas; Daniel and Bobby; great grandchildren: Jade, Micaela, Luke, Colton, and Amy Lee; siblings: Dean Olafson, Edinburg, Robert (Betty) Olafson, Fargo, ND, Roger (Marilyn) Olafson and Curtis (Bjork) Olafson, all of Edinburg.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; infant son, Jeffrey; grandson, Mitchell; brother, Donald and sisters: Karen and Linda Olafson.
Clergy: Rev. Roger Paulson.
Music: Doug Olson, Soloist and Suzie Ashpole, Pianist.
Casket Bearers: Jason Hurst, Jon Johnson, Terry Koropatnicki, Darren Olafson, Drew Olafson, Dennis Robinson, Curt Sapa, and Doug Sapa.
