Donna J. Christianson

Donna J. Christianson, 85, of Mountain, ND passed away Monday, May 12, 2014, at Wedgewood, Manor, Cavalier, ND.
Donna Joy MacDonald was born May 11, 1929, at rural Crystal, ND to Donald and Belva (Higdon) MacDonald. She grew up at Crystal where she attended school and graduated as valedictorian of her high school class. Donnas love of nursing took her to Grafton, ND where she worked as a nurses' aide at the Deaconess Hospital. It was there she met her future husband.
On September 16, 1950, she married Arnold Christianson, at Cavalier, ND. They made their home in Mountain until June 2009, when they moved to Country Estates in Cavalier. Donna was in failing health, but enjoyed the wonderful friendships she made at Country Estates, and they both truly enjoyed the facility. Arnold passed away February 4, 2013 and Donna remained in her apartment until June 2013, when she was forced to move to Wedgewood Manor due to health issues.
Donna worked at the Borg Home in Mountain for 30 plus years as a nurses' aide. She was a member of the Vikur Lutheran Church and very active in LCW for many years. Donna had a great love of birds, flowers, trees, and poetry. She was a very avid reader and always had a book in process.
Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ann (Vern) Flanagan, Fargo, ND; grandchildren: Shane Flanagan, Orlando, FL, Cabrina Flanagan, Salinas, CA, Dustin (Jill) Johnson and Nicole (Jeremy) Sorteberg, all of Grand Forks, ND; four great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; brothers: Dale MacDonald, Brooklyn Center, MN and Robert MacDonald, Drayton, ND.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Gayle Johnson; and sisters: Lorraine Pederson and Jean Mason.
A memorial service will be held Friday, May 16, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the Vikur Lutheran Church, Mountain, ND. Interment will be held in the Mountain Cemetery. Clergy: Rev. Jessica Merchant; Music: Suzanne Ashpole, Accompanist, Shane Flanagan, Soloist; Honorary Pallbearers: Shane Flanagan, Vern Flanagan, Russell Hannesson, Dustin Johnson, J.D. Sorteberg.
