Donald D. Skjervheim

Donald D. Skjervheim, 85, of Langdon, ND and formerly of Hampden, ND passed away Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Cavalier County Memorial Hospital in Langdon, ND.

Donald was born January 27, 1930 in Bagley, MN to Obert and Inga (Iverson) Skjervheim. He went to school in the Billings and Loma Townships near Hampden, ND. Donald entered the US Marine Corps where he earned the Purple Heart and two Gold Stars in the Korean War. After being honorably discharged, he returned to the Hampden area and farmed in partnership with his brothers, Burnell and LeRoy, and later with nephews, Donnie and Jack. He lived on the family farm along with his mother, Inga. After Inga’s passing, Donald moved to Wheatland Estates in Langdon.

Donald loved to visit with company that would stop by and was very close to his family. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of Hampden, Hampden American Legion Post #266, Devils Lake Elks Lodge 1216 and Prairie Winds Threshing Organization of Hampden.

Surviving Donald are his brother, Burnell (Renae) Skjervheim, of Langdon, ND, his sister, Mavis (Pete) VanMatre, of Longmont, CO, sister-in-law Joyce Skjervheim of Langdon, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother LeRoy Skjervheim.

Services will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Maple Manor Care Center Chapel in Langdon, ND. Visitation will start one hour prior to service time.
