Donald Nelson

Donald D. Nelson, 83, of Walhalla, ND passed away Thursday, December 3, 2015, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND. Interment will be held in the Numedahl Cemetery, Walhalla, ND.
Donald was born December 23, 1931 at Walhalla, ND to Mearle Cook and Anne Nelson. He grew up in Fremont Township where he attended school. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954, he returned to the Fremont Township area where he farmed.
On May 18, 1993, he married Evelyn Huffman at Walhalla. Evelyn passed away July 7, 2013.
He is survived by his step-children: Sandy Swenson, Fargo, ND, Shelly Swenson, Grafton, ND, Dale (Diane) Swenson, Snohomish, WA, Renita (Mark) Browne, St. Hilaire, MN, Flint (Lynnette) Huffman, Walhalla, ND; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers: Charles (Lynn) Lien and Robert Lien, all of Walhalla; nephew, Cory Lien, Grand Forks, ND; niece, Kara Lien, Bloomington, MN.
Also preceding him in death were his parents and brothers: Gary and Larry Lien.
