Donald Krom, 85, of Grafton, ND and formerly of Osnabrock, ND passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 at Lutheran Sunset Home in Grafton.
Donald Jerome Krom was born May 11, 1930 to Louis Sr. and Mary (Mess) Krom in Nekoma Township. He attended Osnabrock Township grade school and graduated from Nekoma High School in 1947. Donald and Ardelle Hooey were united in marriage on September 6, 1952 at St. Edwardââ¬â¢s Catholic Church in Nekoma. They lived on the farm for a bit then Donald worked at J. J. Newberry Co. in Grand Forks until being transferred to their store in Sioux Falls, SD. City life wasnââ¬â¢t for them so they returned to farm in the Osnabrock area. After retiring from farming, Donald continued to help area farmers during the spring and fall. He and Ardelle moved to Grafton in 2007, and Donald became a resident of Lutheran Sunset Home in 2010.
Donald loved to play cards and to hunt. He was a member of the Langdon Knights of Columbus, was a township officer, and served on the board of the church and as sexton of the cemetery for St. Edwardââ¬â¢s in Nekoma.
Surviving Donald are his wife, Ardelle; children: Peggy (Gary) Gross of Osnabrock, ND, David (Kelli) Krom of Fort Garland, CO, Gloria (John) Steckler of St. Anthony, ND, Danny (Julie) Krom of Osnabrock, Daryl (Janet) Krom of West Fargo, ND, Gary (Darlene) Krom of Grafton, Keith Krom of Thompson, ND; grandchildren: Laurie Monke, Justin Gross, Katie Horejsi, Heather Janousek, Jacqueline Krom, Emily Kline, Aaron Steckler, Kayla Krom, Brandon Krom, Kari Krom, Becky Krom, Kristi Johnston, Kylie Krom, Jennifer Krom, Kyle Krom; 17 great-grandchildren; sisters: Eva Westby and Mary Hebert; and sisters-in-law: Marie Krom and Ardy Krom.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Jalec Krom, daughter-in-law Michele Krom, and siblings: Peter, Joseph, Rudolph, Charles, Thomas, Louis, Anna and Victor.
Services will be held Friday, December 4 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Langdon, ND.
Visitation will take place from 5-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 3, 2015 with the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home of Langdon, ND. Visitation will also be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
