Donald E. Jaster

Donald E. Jaster, 85, of Cavalier, ND passed away Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Manor Care, Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 8, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at the Cavalier Presbyterian Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Askew Funeral Home, Cavalier, ND. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial will be in the Cavalier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial are preferred to Faith in Action or the Cavalier American Legion.
Donald E. Jaster was born May 28, 1927, at Grafton, ND to Edward and Hilda (Skoje) Jaster. He grew up in Cavalier where he attended school. At the age of 17 years, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and later served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. During the Vietnam War, he was an Administrative Supply Technician with the North Dakota National Guard and after 33 years of service retired from the Guard. Don also worked as a rural mail carrier for 12 years and for 19 years worked for the North Dakota Highway Patrol Motor Carrier Division at Joliette, ND. In his spare time, Don love flying his J3 Piper Cub. He also served as chairman of the Cavalier Airport Authority and was a devoted member of the Cavalier American Legion.
On August 20, 1950, he married Donna Jean Blomquist at Cavalier. Donna passed away on March 17, 1998.
Survivors include his sons: Bruce (Cheryl) Jaster, Fargo and Kirk (Abbi) Jaster, Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren: Katie, Jayden, and Jaymie; great-grandaughter, Zoey; brother, Roger (Bev) Jaster, Cavalier; and companion,Marge Trenbeath, Neche, ND.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; and siblings: Lloyd and Betty.
