Donald W. Hills

Donald W. Hills, 91, of Glasston, ND passed away Friday, October 21, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his wife and loving family. A memorial service will be held Monday, October 24, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bathgate Presbyterian Church, Bathgate, ND. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the time of services.
Donald W. Hills was born June 21, 1925, on the family farm southeast of Bowesmont, ND to John Walter and Susan Hills. He attended Mugford Country School and graduated from Bowesmont High School in 1943. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. After boot camp and electrical training, he was shipped from Pearl Harbor to Guam and spent 15 months there until the war ended. He was then discharged and returned to the family farm.
On November 17, 1956, he married Helen Macken and they made their home on her family farm at Glasston, ND and resided there until the time of his death. They were members of the Glasston United Methodist Church until its closing.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Helen; daughters: Cindy (Bruce) Henschel, Glasston, ND, Toni (Kelly) Brown, Bathgate, ND, Jodi Coppin (Mark Hardebeck) Milnor, ND; grandchildren: Jennifer (Jordan) Knudsen, Kyle Switzer, Travis (McKenzie) Brown, Reece (Abby Jo) Brown, Levi Brown, Amy Jo Coppin (Zach Long); great-grandchildren: Hannah and Liam Knudsen and Maclin Brown; siblings: Maxine Wilson, Thelma Fritz, and Oliver "Bud" Hills.
