Donald Gerth

Donald Gerth, 83, of Langdon, ND passed away on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital in Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 23, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND.

An avid card game and marble master player, Donald E. Gerth of Wales, North Dakota, lived a simple life in collaboration with the land he worked and the construction jobs he landed to make a living for his family. Don was born May 25, 1940, to parents Earnest and Adeline Gerth of Wales, North Dakota. He married Sharon Landsem in May 1968. After enjoying 42 years of marriage together, Sharon passed in January 2010. Don was known as a builder, farmer, homesteader, lefsa maker, and family man. He was calm under pressure and had one pace. He worked hard and enjoyed the harvest of a big garden. Over his lifetime, he spent time camping with family and taking road trips. He retired after working 30 years at the Langdon High School. Don is survived by his siblings: Robert Gerth (Dody), Delores Magnus, and Roger Gerth (Levorah); children: Donna Campbell (Jeffery), Diane Twete, and Donald J. Gerth; grandchildren: Mallory Kvilvang (Christian), Kayla Twete, Hunter Twete, and Taylor Twete. He leaves behind a legacy of goodwill, sharing in his last years the importance of being a good neighbor and enjoying the little things in life. Don was 83 years old; he will be laid to rest at Lebanon Cemetery in Langdon, North Dakota.
