Donald G. Dalzell, 86, of Walhalla, ND passed away Saturday, November 29, 2014, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla. Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 2nd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service at the church. Burial will be held in the St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery.
Donald was born March 9, 1928, at Grand Forks, ND to James and Josephine (Longtin) Dalzell. He grew up in the Leroy area where he attended school thru the 8th grade. After studying auto body at the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND, he returned to the family farm.
On October 2, 1953, he married Gail Smith at Leroy. After their marriage, Don farmed and had an auto body shop at the farm for over 40 years. He enjoyed woodworking, especially making furniture for his home and toys for his children and grandchildren. Don also kept and showed Morgan horses with Gail. Restoring antique cars was one of his life's pleasures. Don was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the N.F.O., and Lions.
Survivors include his wife, Gail; children: Vicki (Harold) Jordan and son, Clinton Harris; Desiree (Bruce) Verlinde and children, Molly (Grant) Weisz, Zach (Krista), Tess, Hannah (Dustin) Strong; Brian (Louise) Dalzell; Stuart (Jennifer) Dalzell and daughter, Madison; Todd (Julie) Dalzell, and children, Talia and Ellia; Justin (Crystalynn) Dalzell, and children, Weston and Dalton; Nathan Dalzell; great-grandchildren: Delilah, Adelaide, and Baron Strong; Kailey and Charles Verlinde; Ava Weisz; siblings: Leonard Dalzell and Lenora Gelder; sister-in-law, Marie Dalzell.
Preceding him in death were his parents; infant brother, Warren; siblings: Annie (Romeo) Beauchamp, Clarence (Edna) Dalzell, Ervin (Elizabeth) Dalzell, and Vernon Dalzell; sister-in-law, Janice Dalzell; brother-in-law, Cecil Gelder.
