Dolores A. Johnson

Dolores A. Johnson, age 85, of Cavalier, ND died on Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Sanford Health, Fargo, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Brigid of Ireland Catholic Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, February 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. vigil service at the St. Brigid's Catholic Church. Memorials are preferred to the Mountain Quick Response or Cavalier Ambulance Service.
Dolores A. Gaffney was born May 13, 1925, at Easby, ND to Roland and Daisy (Maxwell) Gaffney. She grew up in the Milton-Osnabrock area and graduated from Milton High School. Her family moved to Cavalier where she worked at Berdahl-Fedje Hardware and the Woodwards Department Store.
On July 19, 1948, she married Arni Johnson at Cavalier. After their marriage they farmed in the Hallson area. Dolores was an avid painter and a member of the Brush Bunch in Walhalla and was a charter member of the Cavalier Arts and Crafts. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening, and was a member of the St. Mary's Guild at St. Brigid's.
Survivors include her husband, Arni; children: Holly (Larry) Puppe, Hensel, ND and Kelly (Jean) Johnson, Cavalier; grandchildren: Brian (Allison) Puppe, Wade Puppe, Megan Puppe, Evyn Johnson, and Jarret Johnson; siblings: Marguerite Walker, Mayville, ND, Tom (Diane) Gaffney, Sun City, AZ, Corrinne (Ronnie) Chapman, Drayton, ND, Gene (Eloise) Gafffney, Detroit Lakes, MN, Bonnie Olson, Katy, TX, Terry (Ray) Dusek, Crookston, MN, and Brother Michael Gaffney, Detroit, MI.
Preceding her in death were her parents; son, Dirk Johnson, and sister, June Papenfuss.
