Dixon G. Best, age 87, of Walhalla, ND passed away July 17, 2012, at
Hospice of the Valley Arbor House in Mesa, AZ. A memorial service will
be on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Park Center Walhalla Presbyterian
Church. Visitation will be on Friday, July 27, 2012, from 5:00p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home
of Walhalla. Burial will be in Walhalla Hillside Cemetery.

Dixon Best was born on April 28, 1925 at Walhalla, ND, the son of S.
George and Nellie (Storey) Best. He attended school at Park Center and
high school at Park River Agriculture School. He graduated from North
Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in
Agriculture Economics. He farmed in the Walhalla area until his
retirement.

On March 2, 1957 he married M. Loraine Houck at Winnipeg, Manitoba and
they made their home on the family farm and in Walhalla. Loraine
passed away on July 17th, 2001. He married Adeline Smith in 2004.

Dixon was a member of the Park Center-Walhalla Presbyterian Church and
sang in the church choir both at Walhalla and at Gilbert Presbyterian
Church in Gilbert, AZ. He was a member of the U.S. Air Force and
served in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Kem Temple Shriners,
a 32nd Degree Mason at the Walhalla Masonic Lodge, Alpha Gamma Rho
fraternity, Walhalla Lions Club, Sunland Songsters, and American
Legion.

Dixon loved farming his land and raising cattle, singing and playing
the piano, golf, reading a good book (always the last chapter first,
and being with his family. He always had a smile on his face and never
voiced a complaint.

He is survived by his sister Naomi Squire, Puyallup, WA; daughter
Elizabeth (John) Burroughs, Chandler, AZ; sons, Douglas (Lisa), Dallas,
TX; and Andrew (Olja), Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren Reed and Jake
Burroughs, Chandler, AZ; Annie, Matthew, and Michael Best, Dallas, TX
and Annika Sickert, Phoenix, AZ; and his wife, Adeline Smith, Mesa AZ.

Dixon was preceded in death by his parents, wife Loraine, brothers
Gordon (Beth) and Lloyd (Jenny), and brother-in-law Darrell Squire.
