Dennis Loewen

Dennis Loewen, 78, of Fargo, ND, and formerly of Langdon, ND, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019, at Sanford Palliative Care in Fargo. He is now happy and with the love of his life, Annette.

Dennis Lavern Loewen was born December 28, 1940, to Abe C. and Katie (Krahn) Loewen. He was raised on the family farm outside of Alsen, ND, and attended Gordon Township schoolhouse until he got tired of it and started working on the family farm. Dennis joined the US Army in November of 1963 and was stationed in Germany for two years. On June 10, 1967, he married the love of his life, Annette Chaput, and they had two children, Brian and Theresa. Dennis farmed his whole life with his brothers, Kenny and Arnold. He also drove school bus for decades for the Langdon School District and was loved by the kids. He drove for many special events and very seldom said no when asked. He was a life-long member of the Eagles Aerie #3454 in Langdon. Dennis also belonged to the American Legion Post #98 and was a member of the board at the Langdon Senior Center for many years.

After the death of his wife, Annette, he moved to Fargo and spent his time doing word finds and eating out. He really liked eating out with his family and friends. He looked forward to Monday nights; he loved watching his great-niece and nephew go-cart race while enjoying a hot dog.

Surviving Dennis are his daughter, Theresa, of Fargo; son Brian and his wife, Kelsey, of Wahpeton; and two grandsons, Hunter and Gavin, who is only two weeks old.  Dennis wanted to hang around to see his new grandson, and he was able to do that. Also surviving are his siblings: Kenny, Charlotte (Neil) Olson, Audrey (Skip) Doyle; sister-in-law Lorraine Dalstad; brothers-in-law Duane Heck, Francis (Linda) Chaput, James (Janelle) Chaput; and several nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at St. Alphonsus Church in Langdon, ND. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service on Tuesday, June 11, 2019, at Brooks Funeral Home in Langdon, ND, and for one hour prior to service time at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Langdon.
