Delores (Dee) Schluchter of Fargo, ND and formerly of Cavalier, ND, peacefully passed away on January 3, 2025, at Eventide Senior Care in Fargo, ND. Funeral service will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 12:00 noon at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held for one hour before the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Cavalier Fire Department.
Dee was born April 27, 1937, in Minot, North Dakota to Dagmar (Jordheim) and Oscar Fossum. She grew up on the family farm near Westhope, North Dakota and graduated from Mohall High School. After high school she attended the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Dee then moved to Cavalier, North Dakota to work at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital and in the office of Drs. Johanson and Helgason. There she met Dean Schluchter, and they were married on July 6, 1958, in Mohall, North Dakota. They made their home in Cavalier, living a short time in Tacoma, Washington when Dean was stationed at Fort Lewis, returning to Cavalier when Dean’s service was completed.
Dee was an avid painter, owning Dee’s Ceramic Shop and then later enjoying oil and china painting.
She is survived by her daughter, Shari Schluchter (Bill Frey); son, Scott Schluchter (Jackie); grandchildren, Kaleigh Frey, Steph Frey (Jake Fisher), Blake Schluchter, Lauren Schluchter, Grant Schluchter; sister, Margaret Hellebust; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marlene and Don Saiger; and several nieces and nephews.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean; brother-in-law, Lidvin Hellebust; nephew, Brett Hanson; sister and brother-in-law, Judith and Gene Nicholsen; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Margaret and Harlan Schluchter.
