Delora G. King, 77, of Walhalla, ND passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Boniface Catholic Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation will be held Monday, May 14th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Burial will be in the Beaulieu Cemetery, Walhalla.
Delora J. Gratton was born March 26, 1935, to Harvey and Eugenie (Brusseau) Gratton, in their log home in the Olga area, where she also later attended school. She then went on to high school in Langdon and graduated from Grand Forks Central High School. After attending Valley City Teachers College, she taught at the Beaulieu School.
On January 6, 1954, she married Wylie King at Olga. After their marriage they lived and farmed in the Beaulieu area. Delora worked as a dispatcher at the Cavalier and Pembina County Law Enforcement Offices. In her spare time she enjoyed baking, especially cinnamon rolls, gardening, scenic walks and drives in the hills of the countryside. For the past 25 years she's enjoyed companionship with her significant other, Larry Johnson.
Survivors include her children: Rebecca King (Dan Mattern), Bismarck, ND, Brad (Geraldine) King, Walhalla, Maureen King, New York Mills, MN, Wendy (Larry) Holter, Alvarado, MN, Robert (Melody) King, Cavalier, Jodi Syrup, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren: Eric, Curt, and Brittany Kvasager; Nick and Kelsey King; Lucas and Brandon Holter, Christine Monnin, Connor Holter; Tyler King; Skyler and Amelia Syrup; great grandchildren: Austin and Addison Kvasager; Mahli and Jett Holter, and Maddox Monnin; Jaden Virnala and brother, Jacoby; special friend, Larry Johnson, Walhalla; siblings: Duane Gratton, Olga, ND, Estelle (Ernest) Carrier, Milton, ND, Marilyn (Jim) Wakeford, Belt, MT, Jane (Finley) McLean, Devils Lake, ND, and Kelly (Lue) Gratton, Walhalla.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; infant son, Kevin James; granddaughter, Monique; and husband, Wylie.
