Delmar R. Coyle, 74, of Walhalla, ND died on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Pembilier Nursing Center, Walhalla. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Park Center-Walhalla Presbyterian Church, Walhalla, ND. Visitation on Friday, April 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Askew Funeral Home, Walhalla, ND. Burial in the Hillside Cemetery, Walhalla.
Delmar was born April 12, 1936 in the Elkwood-Maida, ND area to Charles B. and Elva Catherine (Gellatly) Coyle. He grew up in the Maida area where he attended country school.
On April 2, 1956, he married Verda Witzel at Langdon, ND. He served in the U.S. Army in Guam for 18 months. After his discharge from the service he worked in the oil fields in the Tioga area, Lloyd Dalzell farm, Soeby Motors, and owned and managed Big A Auto Parts in Walhalla for 27 years. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren, restoring antiques, building things for his family, and building the cabin in the Pembina Gorge where he grew up. Delmar was also involved in several Walhalla community groups and activities.
Survivors include his wife, Verda; children, Wendy (Kevin) Waslaski, Langdon, ND and Catherine (Stacy) Lies, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Gavin, Caitlin, and Logan Waslaski and Max and Trey Lies; brothers, Elgin (Betty) Coyle and Howard (Ione) Coyle, all of Langdon, ND, and Gerald (Donna) Coyle, Hillman, MN.
Preceding him in death were his parents; son, Lane Coyle; sister, Ruby Gellner; and brothers, Merle and Warren Coyle.
Clergy: Pastor Dann Pageler
Casket Bearers: Mike Belanus, Paul Brusseau, Kent Dalzell, Tom Hardy, Brian Mathison, Gary Moser, Gavin Waslaski, and Logan Waslaski.
Music: Sharon Carpenter, Organist and Lisa Dalzell, Soloist.
