Delbert Greene

Del M. Greene, 86, of Washington and formerly of the Langdon, ND area passed away on August 13, 2013 in Washington after a lengthy illness.

Del M. Greene was born in Langdon, ND on August 8, 1927 to Olaf A. and Mable (Carson) Greene. Mabel passed away from a heart condition when Del was only a few months old. His father then married Ella Dahlvang the following year. Three more children were added to the family. They lived in the Mona area until 1934 when they moved to Washington. They lived in the Easton area until finally moving to Seattle.

Del made the military his career. He joined the US Navy but was drafted by the US Army and was inducted into service on October 13, 1950. He served in Japan and Korea where he was assigned to active duty. After being honorable discharged July 17, 1952, he joined the Washington Army National Guard. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel August 31, 1982 after 32 years of military service. After retiring he was employed at Mills & Mills Funeral Home in Olympia.

Del is survived by his wife Virginia; her two children Ray and Ann; his children Vicki and Robert; two sisters: Ann Fix of the Seattle area and Sandra (Ervin) Gustafson of Langdon, ND; brother Robert (Chris) Greene of Surrey, ND; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held for Del on Saturday, September 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Lebanon Cemetery in Langdon, ND.
