David Allen Kearns,68, of Sioux Falls, SD, was called home to spend eternity with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sept. 14th, 2024, after battling cancer.
David was born June, 12th 1956, in Cavalier, ND to Margaret Winkler Kearns and John Donald Kearns. Growing up in Cavalier he went to school and farmed. In 1974, he joined the Army, serving until his discharge in 1976. He worked in the construction trade. In August 1983, he met his best friend Lori Meagher and they married September 7, 1985 in Cavalier, ND. He attended college from 1991-1993 at NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND and got his degree in Architectural Drafting and Estimating. He used his degree as a self-employed carpenter.
He loved spending his time with his kids, grandkids, family, and friends. He loved to travel, camp, fish hunt and cook. Above all, he loved the Lord!
David is survived by his wife Lori of 39 years, and three children: Tara (John) Emerson, Pembina, ND; Trista (Riley) Cole, Sioux Falls, SD; and Patrick Kearns, Sioux Falls, SD.; grandkids: Evan (Haley) Emerson, Preston, Audrey and Isla Emerson, Zavier ManyRibs, Brentley Cole, and Elijah Kearns. Also by his siblings: Diane (Wayne) Peterson, Danny Nordstrom, Deedee (Rick) Helgoe, Billy Nordstrom, Bill (Stephanie) Kearns, Donna Kearns, Mary Micki Kearns, Colleen(Chuck) Gibson. And Paddy Kearns.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Margaret(George) Nordstrom and John(Mary) Kearns; brother, Donnie Kearns; and sister, Maureen Hansen.
We will be honoring the Celebration of Life for David on Saturday, September 28th from 11:00 am to 2:00 p.m. at the Cavalier American Legion in Cavalier, ND. We will be serving lunch.
