David G. Brown, age 61, of Cavalier, ND, died on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at the Pembina County Memorial Hospital, Cavalier, ND. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 6, 2010, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Cavalier, ND. Visitation will be held Thursday, August 5th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church. Visitation at the church for one hour before the time of services. Burial in the Cavalier Cemetery.
David G. Brown was born December 21, 1948, at Langdon, ND to William G. and Margaret (Ferguson) Brown. He attended the Colburn Country School thru grade five and graduated from Walhalla High School in 1967. Dave attended Mayville State College and then enlisted in the U.S. Army and served with the 101st Infantry Airborne in Vietnam. While in Vietnam he transferred to the 173rd Airborne Ranger Division and became a Sergeant. He was a recipient of several medals, including two bronze stars and two combat assault awards. In the fall of 1969, following his discharge from the service he returned to Mayville State, where he met his wife, Val. On July 23, 1971, he married Valorie A. Lawonn at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, rural St. Thomas, ND. Dave worked at Gregory Ford in Cavalier, the PAR Site, and Olafson Brothers Construction. In 1985, he became a State Farm Insurance Agent and operated that business until 1994, when retired due to disability. At that time his wife, Val took over the business.
Survivors include his wife, Val; children, Nicole Lischefske, Cavalier, Tiffani (James) Albrecht, Edina, MN, Karissa (Chris) Brusseau, Fargo, ND, and Jaime (Scott) Hanson, Cavalier; grandchildren, Savannah, Dori, and Lauren Lischefske; Teagan, Sadie, and Faera Albrecht; Jaelyn and Brynn Hanson, and Kaden Brusseau; brother, William H. (Caroline) Brown, Rapid City, SD and sister, Ruth E. (Mike) Carpenter, Cavalier, ND, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents, brother, John Brown, niece, Melissa Carpenter Johnson, and father-in-law, Bunch Lawonn.
Clergy: The Reverend Elsie Magnus and Rev. Fr. James Ermer.
Military Rites: Lavern J. Thompson Post #11, Cavalier American Legion.
Music: Sharon Carpenter, Organist; Kent and Lisa Dalzell, Vocalists.
Casket Bearers: Rick Benoit, Dennis Brown, Paul Brown Scott Hornung, Scott Humble, Lowell Inglis, Don Pflaum, and Sie Rawls.
